Regional Conference on creativity, jobs and local economic development in the southern Mediterranean opens in Algiers . 14/11/2017.

A high level regional conference ‘Creativity, Employment and Economic Development in the Southern Mediterranean’ was organized by the Algerian Ministry of Industry and Mines in conjunction with UNIDO in conjunction with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) .
The event took place in Algiers on 14 and 15 November 2017.
The conference was organized within the framework of the project “Creative Mediterranean: Development of clusters in Cultural and Creative Industries in the Southern Mediterranean”, which is funded by the European Union and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. The conference brought together Ministers of Industry and International cooperation from the Southern Mediterranean, as well as stakeholders from the private sector, academia and international cooperation. The objective was to identify best practices to foster innovation, creativity and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises at the regional level in order to develop local industrial networks and reinforce the socio-economic resilience of the region.
This conference, the first of its kind in the region, drew lessons learnt and shared best practices. Also featuring in this event was an exhibition.
In his address to the conference participants, the Algerian Foreign Minister said that: “President Bouteflika’s program, the GVT plan as well as the new model of economic growth arouse a lot of interest in terms of the items that are a subject of this conference as they place public and private companies at the centre of the work of economic development”.
