Minister BOUCHOUAREB participates in the World Economic Forum in Kigali.

Minister of Industry and Mines Abdesselam BOUCHOUAREB represented Algeria at the 26th World Economic Forum on Africa held in Kigali, Rwanda from 11 to 13 May 2016. Under the theme “Connecting Africa’s Resources through Digital Transformation”.
The three-day event brought together more than 1.500 participants, including regional and global political leaders, economic decision-makers, personalities and representatives of society Civil and art.
BOUCHOUAREB participated in several sessions, including those related to the development of Africa and the stimulation of competitiveness and inclusive growth in the continent. On the sidelines of the work, the Minister met with several political leaders and economic decision-makers interested in investing in industry in Algeria.
In an exchange of views with President KAGAME, BOUCHOUAREB indicated that: “Algerian companies are ready to participate in the electrification of Africa”.
The Minister of Industry and Mines has pleaded with the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Mr Akinwumi Adesina, in favor of Algerian companies to take part in the New Deal for “Energy Africa Initiative “, an initiative based on a partnership that seeks to ensure universal access to energy services in Africa by 2025, notably through the electrification of the continent.
BOUCHOUAREB underlined in this connection: “Algeria, which has an electrification rate of almost all of its territory (more than 98%), which is well above the continent’s average of around 42%, has Companies that have capitalized several decades of experience and are present on the entire electrification chain, ranging from production to transport and distribution, to the manufacture of high, medium and low voltage equipment, Engineering and civil engineering. We are also moving up the value chain to produce gas turbines, the first in Africa. There are also companies that are starting to activate in the production of equipment for renewable energies. “Before continuing:” We have strong companies that have already carried out operations in Africa. We want them to be associated with this initiative and that their mastery and know-how can be used for the economic and social development of Africa “.
