I recently met with H.E. Cherif Oualid, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Algeria to Uganda. I am grateful for the enduring partnership between Uganda and Algeria, especially the long-standing scholarship program. Over the past 30 years, this initiative, supervised by the Ministry of Education and Sports, has granted 100 annual scholarships to Ugandan nationals, benefiting hundreds of students each year. I encourage Ugandan students to seize the opportunity of the 100 scholarships provided by Algeria for the academic year commencing in September. I also call upon Ugandans pursuing Master’s degrees in Algeria to return home after completing their studies to contribute to our nation’s development. Lastly, I appreciate the Algerian Government and its people for their unwavering support in educating Ugandan students in Algeria. I also applaud both nations for their joint efforts in pursuing the shared objective of promoting education.
