Général-Major HAMEL participates to the second Euromed-Police IV meeting. The Hague, 6-7 September.

In his capacity as guest of honor and in the sidelines of the second Euromed-Police IV meeting held on 6th & 7th September 2017 at The Hague (Netherlands), the head of Afripol, Maj.Gen Abdelghani Hamel, and Director General of National Security (DG-NS) held a series of meetings with his counterparts from regional and international police institutions like the Head of Europol Rob Wainwright.

The two Director-Generals discussed coordination and cooperation between their respective institutions and the need to harmonise positions and efforts in the fight against any type of criminality in Africa and Europe.

At the same occasion, Maj.Gen Abdelghani Hamel, Director General of National Security emphasized the importance of sharing information and experience and supporting training of African Police explaining that it shall help in tackling security threats and to fight common crime.

The DG-NS explained to the Europol chief the key aspects of the Afripol mechanism program since its creation and the first General Assembly that took place last May in Algiers. During the General Assembly, members resolved to support police in African countries as well as training, communication and the necessary logistics to accomplish the missions.

The DG-NS also held meetings with the Asiapol chief Tan Sri Khalid Aboubakar, Interpol chief Meng Hongwei and Interpol Secretary Jurgen Stock.

It should be called that last July the DG-NS participated in the first meeting on the fight against digital and financial crime that took place in Lyon (France).
