Foreign Minister Messahel conveyed a brotherhood and friendship message of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to President Museveni. 24/06/2017.

During his meeting with the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, on the sidelines of the Solidarity Summit on Refugees, held in Kampala on 22nd and 23rd June 2017, Mr. Abdelkader Messahel, conveyed a message of brotherhood and friendship to the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

The meeting focused on the cooperation relations between Algeria and Uganda and the ways and means of strengthening them.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of the decisions taken in the framework of President Museveni’s visit to Algeria in October 2015, as well as the forthcoming Strengthening and widening the excellent relations between the two countries.

The audience also highlighted the “importance” of the Kampala Summit on Refugees, which is timely to raise awareness of the plight of the millions of people affected by migration flows and the “imperative” for The international community to become more involved in their care to relieve not only their suffering but also the weight that these situations imply on the host countries.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review the items on the agenda of the next African Union Summit to be held in Addis Ababa on 3 and 4 July 2017.

President Museveni asked Mr. Messahel to convey “his warm and fraternal greetings to the President of the Republic and his constantly renewed friendship”.

On the sidelines of the Summit, the Minister Messahel held discussions with his counterpart of Tanzania, Mr. Augustin Mahinga and also with Mrs Minata Samate, Commissioner for Political Affairs of the African Union.
