AU endorses Algeria’s initiative for natural disaster preparedness, response.

MALABO (Equatorial Guinea)- The Conference of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union, held Friday (May 27) in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, has endorsed Algeria’s initiative for the creation of a continental civil capacity for disaster preparedness and response in Africa.

The Algerian initiative is one of the key measures adopted through the political declaration of the AU Extraordinary Summit (Humanitarian and Pledging Conference), to meet humanitarian challenges, namely climate change and natural disasters, pandemics and health emergencies, nutrition and food security, reconstruction and development in the aftermath of conflicts as well as the financing of the humanitarian action in Africa.
