Algerian participation at the 27th Summit of African Union

The Minister for Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League, Abdelkader MESSAHEL, underline in Kigali, the exceptional distinction of the African Union in Algeria is a “recognition for his performances” in promoting the role of women in development.

The AU, during a closing ceremony of the 27th Conference of Heads of State and Government, awarded Algeria a great price, “The Prize of Prizes” in recognition of the efforts of the President of Abdelaziz BOUTEFLIKA, to promote the role of women in society. “Today is a grateful African performance that Algeria has managed in a short time, achieve achieve in promoting the role of women in the various sectors, whether in the political aspects , economic and social, “said Minister MESSAHEL in sidelines of the closing ceremony of the AU summit.

Algeria has also been the first prize regarding social development in recognition of the efforts made by President BOUTEFLIKA in promoting the rights of women and in the area of economic and social development. The other prize went to Rwanda to promote the rights of women and men in politics. South Africa has received, in turn, the Prize for the promotion of women’s rights in the economic field. Algeria has been so distinguished in the three categories (political, economic and social), because of its ranking among the first in the field. And it is for this reason that Algeria, in addition to the social development of the price, got exceptionally “Prize of Prizes” encompassing all three categories, he said. The awards were presented by the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
