Algeria and Uganda had their independence in 1962, on July 5th for Algeria and on October 9th for Uganda.

They were admitted to the United Nations the same day, in October 1962,  by Security Council resolutions, respectively, S/176, for Algeria and S/177 for Uganda.

Both Algeria and Uganda joined the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in May 1963 as founding members, among thirty-two independent African States.

Algeria opened its Embassy in Kampala in 1979 while Uganda opened its Embassy in Algeria in January 2016.

For a very long time, Algeria and Uganda have had very good relations based on mutual respect, dialogue as well as bilateral and Pan-African solidarity.
